Building Community

Fellowship groups

Fellowship Groups meet in homes a few times a month. Every Fellowship Group leader is a member of NSF who is trained by NSF staff. Members of the group take on roles that make the Fellowship Group work: host, facilitator, communicator, childcare organizer.

They gather to enjoy Jesus and to practice “one anothering” (Eph. 4) – knowing one another, loving one another, bearing with one another, forgiving one another, etc. Ideally, four things happen at a fellowship group: fellowship, prayer, word, and neighboring.

Fellowship

Get to know each other and share a meal or a snack.

Prayer

Spend time together talking and listening to God. Worship, remember God’s faithfulness and who He is, lament or celebrate together, ask God for help.

Word

Engage with God and one another through the Bible, a book, or a sermon. This discussion invites deepening connection with God and one another through the Spirit.

Neighboring

Know, love, and serve those the Lord puts in front of us: people we live with, people we see regularly, and people who live near us.

Child Care Policy

The purpose of this policy is to provide safe childcare to all Fellowship Groups while respecting the fair compensation of childcare providers.

01

Pay Babysitters Directly

Childcare providers must be paid directly by the person(s) organizing childcare at the approved rate of $10-$15 per hour for up to 2 hours for regular Fellowship Group meetings. The organizers will notify the church’s Accountant (Lynn Davis), who will then reimburse the organizers for some or all of that money.  Childcare workers are not paid directly by NSF.

02

Childcare Ratio

There must be 1 adult childcare provider for every 5 children under their care.

03

Background Checks

It is highly recommended that groups use only childcare providers who have been pre-approved by a trusted organization that requires both references and background checks. All NSF nursery and children’s volunteers and paid-staff are pre-approved in this manner.
